Is it the end or only the beginning?

Mt favorite exercises were creating a video in Animoto, creating a mind map and flowchart and creating a binder in LiveBinder. The exercises I did in my blogs will help me and a teacher to use technology in the classroom so students can be more interactive and it will making learning more fun and will help the students learn better. In these exercises, I learned different resources that I can use as a teacher that I did not know of before. I enjoyed learning how to use these tools and how I can use them in education. I plan to maintain my blog by posting a link to it in my email and saving the link so I will always have access to it. I plan to use my blog as a teacher to post important information for students and provide extra practice for students that may need extra help. I plan to use all of the tools I used in my blog in education to make me a more effective teacher. I had a great experience in web 2.0 and I learned how to use many different tools in education and it will change how I use technology in my future classroom.

Thing #23 Creative Commons

The Learning 2.0-23 Things for Teachers blog has the creative commons license. Under this license, it contains attribution which is that you may attribute the work in the way the author specifies, noncommercial which is that you may not use this work for commercial reasons, and share alike which is that you may change or modify the work. I will use creative commons as a teacher to see what websites and documents I am able to use in the classroom and what rights I have specified from the author of the work. If I create a document or work, I will use creative commons to allow other teachers and students to use my work in their classroom to help them use as a resource for learning. I will use it to know what resources I am able to use in the classroom and what rights I have in using these resources. I will use creative commons to use resources licensed under this to help my students in learning material in the classroom and to teach more efficiently.

Thing #22 LiveBinder

The titles of my binders are 6th grade short stories, 6th grade language arts lesson and 6th grade writing and grammar. Here is the link to my binder 6th grade short stories: http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=677529 I might use LiveBinders in the classroom to create lessons that I can use in my classroom. I might use it to put together short stories for the students to read in class and I can keep them all together and organized in one place. I can use it to put in different assignments and keep them organized and together so students will be less likely to lose them because they will all be organized in one place. I used my binder 6th grade short stories to put different stories together that 6th grade students can read in the classroom. I was able to search for different stories online and add them into my binder and keep them in one place and not have to search for them and keep them organized. LiveBinders makes it easy to organize lessons and keep everything in one place and not have to pull up different web pages or take up class time to search for them. It also saves time because students will have everything they need in one place and not have to go searching for each thing in the lesson and can spend more time on the lesson instead of trying to find everything they need.

Thing #21 Animoto

I created a video on a lesson in a language arts class. Here is the link to my video: http://animoto.com/play/T5SnB7eeRxrp9JquCZimpA I found animoto easy to use and very useful. I liked how you could upload any photos from flickr or any other photo site and upload it to create a video. I also liked that you could add music to the video to make it more interesting. I think it can be useful to use in a classroom to create a video on a lesson that will make it fun and more interesting for the students and they can upload it anywhere if they want to watch it again. I think it is very easy to use and can be very useful in education.

Thing #20 YouTube

What I liked about YouTube is that it has lots of videos to choose from and you can search for any video you want to find. I liked that you could save a video when you create an account and watch it later and you can add videos to your favorites so you don't have to search for them again. I can see this features being used if they were applied to my library website to find videos that I can save and go back to later. I could use YouTube for my library website to find videos of books or research tools that I could save to my account and upload them into the library website for other people to view. I could also create a video and add it to YouTube and save it to my account and then upload it to my website for other people to view. I found the video "Top 10 Reasons to Use Technology In Education: iPad, Tablet, Computer, Listening Centers" Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/embed/mzi2RIt8_nk

Thing #19 TeacherPop

I am a member of the flickr online community. Tasty Kitchen, GoodReads and Crafts are appealing to me because I enjoy food, reading and doing crafts. What I found that was interesting what in TeacherPop you can join any group and post anything and comment on any member of your group's post. It was interesting that you could communicate with other members of education and get ideas from them and stay up-to-date with news and changes in education. I also thought it was interesting that you could create a badge for being the member of a group and share it with anyone. It was interesting that it was similar to social networking sites except it's more professional and safer since it is just for education. I created a badge in Teacher Pop. Here is the link:

Thing #18 Social Networking

Here's the link to my facebook profile: It is important that educators know how social networking sites work so they can communicate with other teachers, parents, and students and to keep up with the news in education to know how education is changing. The new insights I gained about these popular sites is that you can add educational resources such as news in education and ideas for lesson plans that I can use to keep track with changes in education and get ideas for lesson plans I can use. What I liked about the sites is that you can add any education resource or members of education such as other teachers and faculty and communicate with them and keep in contact with them. The site that had the most useful features was facebook because you can search for anyone or anything in education and find what you are looking for and add them and then be able to stay in contact with them. I can see a classroom application with these sites by students can communicate with their teacher and ask any questions they have on the material they are learning or homework problems they need help with. I can also see it a way for teachers to post reminders of important dates or assignments due. It can also be a way for teachers to post extra problems the students can practice on the material they are learning. It can also be used for teachers to communicate with parents on their students' progress in the class so they can provide extra help for them if needed and can stay up-to-date with their progress. It is a great way for teachers to communicate with students, parents, and other teachers.

Thing #17 Delicious

I think the delicious tool is very useful. I found many different educational resources for technology in education that were very useful. I can see this as a tool in the classroom to find helpful resources I could use in my classroom to teach a certain lesson. I could also use it to get ideas for lessons plans that I could use. I could use it to find videos I could have students watch in class on a particular subject they are learning to help them better understand the material. Then I could bookmark it so I can easily find it again without having to take time in class to search for it and will always have it stored. Teachers can take advantage of social bookmarking sites by they can find websites, videos, or resources they can use in the classroom to teach the material they are teaching their students and bookmark it so they can easily find it and not have to take up time in class to search for it. They can use it to store educational websites, videos, pictures, etc. that they can use in the classroom so they will always have them and will not have to try to search for them again and take up extra time.

Thing #16 Getting Organized

I chose the stickeynotes.net startup page. I appealed to this one because I like using stickey notes to stay organized and write down important things that I need to remember. The online calenders can be useful to me to put important dates in so I can keep up with all the important dates coming up and keep it organized. The do-lists are helpful to make a list of things that I need to do so I will not forget anything and to keep track of what I need to do. The stickey notes tool has some uses for me at school and at home. I can use it to write down important things I need to remember to do or important dates so I can keep track of everything and keep everything organized for my classes so I won't forget an assignment or important dates. I can also use it at home to create a list of things I need to do or important events coming up so I won't lose track of everything and can keep it organized.

Thing #15 Wiki

I changed the font size and color of the text in the teacherlibrian wiki. It found that was very easy to use. A wiki can be beneficial in the classroom by it could be used to add more information to an article or examples of the text to help the students learn more about the material being taught. It can be used to change the font size and color of the text so the students can see the text better so they can read it better and understand what it is saying. It can also be used to add pictures to the text so show students examples of the material so the students can better understand it. It can be very useful in the classroom to teach the material more efficiently.

Thing #14 Flowcharts and Mind maps

I used bubble.us to create a mind map. I used the button beneath the first square shape that appeared that said to add another child bubble to create a bubble under the first one to show points that were different. Then I used the other button that said to add another sibling bubble to create a bubble beside another one to show points that were similar. Then I just clicked on the bubble and starting typing what I wanted to put in each bubble. I also moved the cursor inside each bubble and clicked the connect button to connect two bubbles together. The mind map has bubbles under and beside each other that connect together. I used gliffy to crate a flow chart. First I selected the flowchart button on the side to create a flowchart and then selected the type of flowchart I wanted to create. Then I used the different shapes provided on the side to create my flowchart. Then I clicked inside each shape and typed in what I wanted in each shape. I used the arrow shape and dragged it to where I wanted to connect certain shapes together. I also drew shapes beside each other to show points that were went together or were similar and shapes under each other to show points that did not go together or were different. The flow chart uses arrows instead of lines to connect points together and uses different shapes instead of just bubble shapes.

Thing #13 Web-Based Applications

I found may features with Zoho Docs. It allows you to upload any type of documents, pictures or videos from anywhere or create a new one. I also found that when you create a new word document, you can use resources such as a thesaurus, spell check and word count. You can also use different fonts and size of the font. You can also reset the document so if you want to completely delete the document without having to open a new document. You can also rename your document that you saved if you want to change the name of it. When you create a spreadsheet, you can insert formulas into it to calculate whatever you want to. It also allows you to sort the information in the spreadsheet in a certain order that you want so you don't have to move everything around. I went to google docs and created a drawing of a venn diagram of the parts of the speech. Here's a link to my drawing: Google docs allowed me to create a drawing, spreadsheet, presentation or document. Zoho Docs allowed me to create or upload documents, spreadsheets, videos or pictures. They were both easy to use and had many useful features. They would be very useful in a classroom to create documents, spreadsheets, videos, pictures, or drawings to teach the material in a different way.

Thing #12 Google

I used the Google Calender. Here's a link to my calender: https://www.google.com/calendar/render I created a calender for the schedule of lessons and activities for each day for one week. It was very easy to create and I liked that it automatically saved it once I logged into my gmail account so I didn't have to remember to save it and it will always be there when I go to it if I want to go back and add more to it or delete some things. I can use this tool to create a schedule for my lesson plans to keep track of my lessons and it is all organized so I can keep up with it and know exactly what I will be doing each day. I can also it to put up important dates such as homework assignments and tests to remind the students of upcoming important dates so they can keep track of it and know what is coming up. It is also a way to keep parents informed of what their children are doing in the classroom and what is expected of them. It is a great tool to use and can be useful in education.

Thing #11 Finding Good Feeds

The methods of finding feeds that I found the easiest was going to google and just typing in what I was looking for. The search tool that was the easiest to use was the Google Blog Search because I could just type in what I wanted to search and the results came right up and it was easy to find. The technorati was easy to use too because I could just search the type of blog I was looking for and it came up several blogs related to what I was looking for. The one I found confusing was using the topix.net because I could not find what I was looking for when I typed in what I wanted to search. The kind of useful feeds I found were about parental involvement in education, technology in schools and curriculum and instruction in the classroom. The other tools I used to find newsfeeds were I went to google.com and search for education newsfeeds and it came up with many directories and RSS Feeds in education that I could go through and find the kind of newsfeeds I was looking for. Google was the easiest way for me to find different feeds in education and is the way I will use to find different feeds that I am looking for on a particular topic.

Thing #10 RSS Readers

I like RSS Readers and newsreaders because you can search for any topic you want to and find many different articles and blogs that you can subscribe to and get updated information that you can check everyday. I also like that you don't have to just do a search on google for the blogs you want to find. You can just search for any blog at this one place. I think I can use this technology in my school to find blogs about education and to stay up-to-date with things changing in education. I can also use it to communicate and share ideas with other teachers and keep into contact with them. I can use it in my personal life to find blogs that I am interested in and subscribe to so I can read them everyday. Teachers can use RSS Readers and take advantage of this technology by they can search for any blogs related to education and get ideas about lesson plans and classroom decorations and other things in education and subscribe to them so they can check them everyday. They can also share their ideas on their blog and other teachers can easily find it and will have it to check everyday. It is a great way for teachers to share ideas for their classroom, get feedback from other teachers and keep in contact with them. It is also a great way for students to easily find their teacher's blog that the teacher can use so they can keep up with homework, important dates and get extra help on assignments and lessons if needed.

Thing #9 Image Generator

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more I created an image of a sign that says "Reading is Fun" and another image of a sign that says "Good Job." I went to image chef for the first image and clicked on the different options of the type of sign I wanted and selected one and edited the text and font color to what I wanted to put on the sign. Then I uploaded a picture of books I found on google for the background. Then I selected a different option for the type of sign I wanted and edited the text and font color again for the second image. I chose the signs I did because it is a way to encourage students and keep them motivated to learn in the classroom. I can use image generators in my classroom to create signs and posters that will keep students motivated and willing to learn. It can also encourage them to work hard and do their best. I can also use image generators to create smileys and signs that say "Good Job"or anything else positive so students can be rewarded for good work and/or behavior. It is a way to keep them on task and reward them when they do well so they will be encouraged to do their best and will be willing to learn.

Thing #8 Mashups

Brittany Lowen Mashup by lowenbritany
Brittany Lowen Mashup, a photo by lowenbritany on Flickr.

I created a mashup of books that students can read and posters to encourage them to read. I can use Flickr mashups in my classroom to upload encouraging posters and signs that students can view that will keep them encouraged and motivated to learn. I can also use it to upload models and examples of the lesson I am teaching so students will better understand it and can also see how it can apply to their own life. I think it's good to share photos online so other people can view them and use them. I think it's good also because other people can get ideas from them. For example, a teacher can upload a photo of a poster they have in their classroom that encourages students. Other teachers can view this poster and may decide that they want to put this poster in their classroom too or give them ideas for posters they want to put in their classrooms.

Thing #7 Flickr

I found this image that I liked: I liked this photo because this is a great idea for something that I can put in my classroom so my students can have access to many types of books that they can read and dictionaries and thesauruses they can use for resources. I enjoyed using flickr and finding images. It was very easy to use and there were many different images available. I liked that you could search for any image and lots of different images came up. I will use flickr in my classroom to find images of models and other representations based on the lesson I am teaching that students can use to better understand the lesson. I have never used another photo hosting service besides flickr. I do not have any concerns about having my photos public because I just have to be careful what I put up there and I can make it private if I feel like I need to. Some of the photos I put up there people can use to get ideas for their classroom or lesson plans or anything else useful so I think some photos I upload should be allowed to be public so other people can view and/or use them. I think flickr is great way to share, view and upload images.

Thing #6 Web 2.0 Tools

I chose the website . I found that you can use this site to check your spelling and writing in a document you create. I like that you can upload any document you create and check your grammar and spelling to make sure everything is correct. The site's useful tools were the grammar checker in which you can copy and paste or type a document into it, and it will correct any spelling and grammar errors in the document and the share button in which you can share the website with other people on social networking sites. I could use this in school to help students correct their spelling and grammar errors and learn the correct way to write it so they can improve in their writing. It can also help students check their spelling and grammar when doing an essay or writing assignment. It is a great way to find spelling and grammar errors and learn the correct way to write them so students can improve their writing skills.

Thing #5 Web 2.0

I read the article "Web 2.0 Is The Future of Education." I agree that Web 2.0 will greatly affect education and make a difference in how students learn and teachers teach. I also agree that the web has not not only affected education, but also how companies sell products and how consumers decide whether or not to purchase those items. I also think that the web will continue to change and affect education. I also read the article "The Horizons Report." I like that this article lists all the different Web 2.0 tools you can use in the classroom and what they can be used for. I also like that it lists technology you can use to help students with specials needs and disabilities. I agree that technology is becoming of the major ways that children are interacting and communicating with other people. To me, School 2.0 means using the web and technology to my advantage to help me communicate and interact with students, administrators and parents. For schools of the future, Web 2.0 means teachers using technology in the classroom to teach students more efficiently. It also means students using technology to help them better understand and learn the material they are learning. It means being able to teach more efficiently so students can learn in a better and different way then before.

Thing #4 Commenting

Commenting helps create a sense of community and interaction because it it shows importance to the blog and draws attention to the blog. It also shows that you are interested in the blog. It also makes the blogger feel like you are a part of their life because you are reading his/her blog. The names of the seven blogs I commented on are Jill Hutchinson's 23 Things, 23 Things, Jared Morris's 23 Things, Chassity Halpin's 23 Things, My 23 Things, Valeta Winn, and My 23 Things. I chose these blogs because they looked interesting to read. The comments I made were that I agree with them and I also think this. I chose these comments because I felt the same way the bloggers did and thought the same thing. I think commenting is important to bloggers and makes their blogs more interesting and more people will want to read them.

Thing #3

I might use a blog in my teacher education program and in my future classroom. I might use in my teacher education program to keep track of resources, projects, and ideas I find and create in my education classes that I may use in my future classroom. I can use my blog to share these things with other people that may use them too and to get feedback on them. I might use a blog in my future classroom to communicate with students, parents and other teachers. I can use a blog to post important dates and homework assignments to keep students on track and aware of what is coming up. I can also use it to post practice problems and homework help for students that need extra help and practice to help them better understand an assignment, I can also use a blog to communicate with parents to keep them up-to-date with what their child is doing in the classroom and their child's progress and ways I can help them improve if needed. I can use it to share my ideas and resources I find effective to other teachers so they can use them in their classroom as well. A blog can be very useful in keeping in communication with students, parents and other teachers.

Thing #2

I do not have any previous experience reading or writing blog.I decided on my posting name and the name of my blog by I just used my last name and the word "teach" since I plan to teach and maybe use this blog when I teach. My experience in creating this blog is that it was very easy for me to create because I am very familiar with the web and google so it was easy to me to figure out how to set it up. My avatar reflects my personality by it is smiling and looks very happy, and I am always smiling and always have a positive attitude. My avatar looks like someone totally different from me because I wanted to be creative and make it look different. I enjoyed creating my blog and avatar, and I think my blog will be very useful now and in the future.

Thing #1 Habits of Lifelong Learners

There are 7 and a half habits of lifelong learners. They are begin with an open mind, accept responsibility for your own learning, view problems as challenges, have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner, create your own learning toolbox, use technology to your advantage, teach/mentor others and play. The easiest one for me is to use technology to my advantage. I always use technology such as interactive websites or games for extra help or practice on lessons I am learning to help me better understand the material. The hardest one for me is to view problems as challenges because when I am faced with a problem I tend to just ask for help instead of trying to figure it myself and use problem solving to see it, and I don't usually see it as a challenge I have to face to solve the problem. I think all of these 7 and a half habits for lifelong learners are very helpful in a learning environment and can help make learning more exciting and effective.
